Carpinteria’ s strong first half in Friday’s Frontier League matchup with Villanova went up in smoke as the Warriors were outscored by 18 in the second half and fell 38-31 to the Flashes.
The Warriors held the Wildcats to a mere five points in the first half but couldn’t bring the same defensive intensity in the second half.
“We got a little too complacent,” said Warriors head coach Johnny Ward.
Ian Craddock was an exception, scoring 10 of his 13 points in the final two periods. The Warriors only scored 15 points total as a team after the break.
Carpinteria falls to 2-6 in league play. Villanova is 4-3.
