San Marcos’ boys basketball team led just about start to finish in Wednesday’s 58-47 Channel League win at Buena.
The Royals were up by nine at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 33-20 at halftime. Buena never got closer than nine points in the second half.
Bryce Ridenour’s 19 points and 10 rebounds paced San Marcos. Elijah Johnson scored 11 points.
“We got solid play from senior Eric Rice who played significant minutes with Jake Wheelock out for the game with an illness,” San Marcos head coach Dave Odell.
Odell also credited Ian Douglas and Christian Widmer for keeping Buena’s leading scorer, Danny Tatnall, in check. Tatnall scored 16 points.
San Marcos is now 6-1 in the Channel League while Buena falls to 3-5. The first-place Royals face Santa Barbara on Friday.
