Carpinteria’s Xavier De Alba erupted for a season-high 27 points on Friday night to spark the Warriors to a 56-49 victory over Fillmore in their Frontier League opener.
De Alba scored 10 points in the first quarter and the Warriors never trailed after that.
Ian Craddock recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 16 rebounds.
“Fillmore tried to make runs and get back into the game but we were very efficient on the offensive end tonight and defensively we limited their second chance points through Craddock’s rebounding,” explained Warriors head coach Johnny Ward.
Carpinteria (7-8, 1-0) plays again on Wednesday at Villanova.
