Dos Pueblos suffered its first loss in Channel League boys basketball Friday, falling at Buena, 63-53.
The Chargers had the lead going into the fourth quarter, but Buena took control of the game by hitting some big shots and capitalizing on DP breakdowns.
“We missed some free throws down the stretch and had a couple of turnovers that allowed Buena to keep its lead,” DP coach Joe Zamora said. “We were forced to foul, and Buena made its free throws, going 10 of 14 in the fourth quarter.”
Gerry Perez and Zach Shugart each scored 11 points to lead DP. Chris Williams added nine points and Cruz Mertens eight.
Danny Tatnall of Buena led all scorers with 21 points.
Dos Pueblos is now 11-5 and 4-1 in league.
