Bishop Diego scored all 13 of its fourth-quarter points on Friday night from the free throw line to secure a 56-52 Tri-Valley League victory over Santa Clara.
The Cardinals converted 18-of-25 free throws for the whole game.
“The guys did a good job of keeping calm and hitting free throws,” said Cardinals head coach Dean Prophet.
Caleb Richey had a team-high 25 points for Bishop Diego and Peter Kwock posted 13 point. The pair were effective drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line throughout the game.
Thomas Lash contributed with his rebounding and Will Busch knocked down a key free throw late in the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals are back at it on Saturday in a home game against Mission Prep. Tri-Valley League action resumes on Wednesday at St. Bonaventure.
