Santa Ynez topped San Marcos 57-21 in Wednesday’s non-league wrestling dual meet.
Despite the team loss, Charles Giroux and freshman Aloha Rodriguez provided the Royals with a pair of impressive victories.
Giroux, competing at 125 pounds, was down 5-1 and avoided two near pins to get a pin of his own with 50 seconds left.
Rodriguez, one of seven first-year wrestlers on the San Marcos team, won by fall in the first round
“We did some good stuff out there in the matches that we did wrestle,” said Royals coach Tony Becerra.
