San Marcos’ wrestling team placed 12th out of 21 teams at Saturday’s tournament hosted by Northview High School in Covina.
Christian Garcia won three of four matches to win the consolation championship and finish in 7th place of the 220-pound division.
Six other Royals – David Morales , Aloha Rodriguez, Joe Alvaro, Harrison Rios, Honowaii Rodriguez and Charles Giroux – finished one win away from placing.
“We are a very young and inexperienced team but they all have great attitudes and a willingness to compete,” said head coach Tony Becerra.
