Dos Pueblos wrestler Nico Sorenson rallied from a six-point deficit in the final period and pinned his opponent in the final 20 seconds to win the 120-pound weight class title at the Mann Classic on Saturday at Santiago Canyon College.
DP coach Anthony Califano said Sorenson used his signature move, the spladle, to put his opponent on his back and score the stunning pin.
?It was pretty exciting,? said Califano. ?He came from behind in the semis, too. He was down by four points, tied it up and won a close match at the end.?
Sorenson is DP?s third tournament champion this season.
In other results Saturday, Chad Lampe finished in third place at 126 pounds and Cameron Cox took fifth at 113 pounds.
The Chargers finished 13th out of 52 teams.
