SB girls soccer team breaks into the win column

Megan Flynn scored two goals and Annie Debruynkops played a strong defensive game, leading the Santa Barbara girls soccer team to a 2-1 non-league win at Santa Paula. It’s the Dons’ first win of the season.

Debruynkops shut down Santa Paula’s Mexican national team player Taylor Alvarado for 78 minutes. She broke loose in the final two minutes and scored a goal.

Flynn gave Santa Barbara a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, scoring off a cross from Bailey Costigan. She made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute, taking a pass from Sasha Alexander, beating two defenders and shooting the ball inside the far post.

Santa Barbara is now 1-0-2 on the season.
