Sydney Hedges poured in 30 points for Providence Hall’s girls basketball team on Wednesday night in the Lions’ 61-19 blowout win over Villanova.
It was the Bird Cage Classic opening game for both teams.
Hedges finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds, 7 blocked shots and 5 assists.
Olivia Johnson added 12 for the Lions and Lacey Gonzalez totaled 11 points.
After Villanova took an early 6-2 lead, Providence Hall dominated the rest of the first half by outscoring the Wildcats 44-4. The score was 46-10 at halftime.
Providence Hall plays Cabrillo at 7 p.m. on Thursday while Villanova takes on Bishop Diego at 5:30. Both games are at Bishop Diego.
