Sydney Hedges and Lacey Gonzalez combined to score over 80 percent of Providence Hall’s points on Friday night as the Lions held off Bishop Diego 51-46.
Hedges scored a game-high 22 points and Gonzalez added 21 for Providence Hall, which will now play in Saturday’s Bird Cage Classic championship game vs. Grant. Tipoff is at 2:30 p.m. at Bishop Diego.
The Cardinals, who will play in the third-place game at 1 p.m., were paced by Madison Ballard-Rozok’s 16 points. Greer Shull tallied 14 points.
Providence Hall’s big third quarter gave the Lions the edge. Bishop Diego led by one at halftime but trailed by 16 heading into the final quarter after a lopsided 24-7 third quarter in favor of the Lions.
