Laguna Blanca’s girls soccer team fell 3-0 to Thacher in Wednesday’s Condor League opener.
“We opened league play today against Thacher having only one game under our belt. Unfortunately for us, the lack of fitness and game sharpness showed,” reported Owls head coach Kevin Shertzer.
The Toads broke through just before halftime to take a 1-0 lead.
“It was a deflating goal, given that it was right on the stroke of the halftime whistle,” Shertzer said.
While Laguna had few truly golden scoring opportunities in the second half, the Owls’ defense maintained the one-goal difference until two quick goals in the final minutes of the game.
“I thought we battled hard throughout the game, but in the end, we ran out of gas,” Shertzer explained. “It’s a disappointing loss, but it certainly showed us what we need to work on I had some players in different positions and I thought they worked extremely hard in unfamiliar roles.”
The Owls play at Bishop Diego in their next game on Monday.
