Dos Pueblos’ girls soccer team was stopped in the semifinals of the Buena Tournament on Monday, falling to Saugus on penalty kicks after the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie.
Rachel Smith scored for Dos Pueblos, which has a 6-1-3 record on the season.
It was a battle of ranked teams from Division 2. Saugus is No. 3 in the latest rankings released today. Dos Pueblos is tied in the polls with Palos Verdes and Claremont.
Dos Pueblos took the lead early in the second half on Smith’s goal. The equalizer didn’t come until there were six minutes left in regular time.
