San Marcos scored first in Friday’s non-league girls soccer match at Moorpark but seal the deal in a 2-1 loss to the Musketeers.
After a scoreless first half, San Marcos freshman Olivia Jones broke through Moorpark’s back line and scored on a breakaway in the 67th minute.
San Marcos did not have long to enjoy its lead as Moorpark answered five minutes later. Moorpark then added the go-ahead goal 45 seconds later.
“We had two poor minutes and it cost us,” said Royals head coach Macie Berlin.
The Royals have three games at the beginning of next week, starting with Santa Clara on Monday.
