Marla Bonser ripped a shot from beyond 35 yards for the first goal, sparking Laguna Blanca to a 3-0 win over Orcutt Academy in the non-league girls soccer match on Wednesday,
Bonser controlled a rebound of a shot by her sister, Maddie Bonser, and hit a screaming shot into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute.
Ten minutes later, Maddie Bonser scored off a cross from Bryn Jewett.
The Owls scored their third goal in the second half. Volleyball teammates Clara Madsen played a through ball to Hannah White and White calmly tucked the ball into the corner.
Coach Kevin Shertzer cited White as the player of the match.
“Her energy on defense and drive going forward were at the heart of many of our attacks,” he said. “It was great to see her efforts rewarded with a goal late in the match.”
