Carpinteria made its free throws when it needed to in Saturday’s 33-32 victory over Cate.
The Warriors trailed 32-28 in the fourth quarter but Bethany Lugo made four straight free throws to tie the game. Erin Saito made another to give the Warriors the lead.
Cate led for much of the game, starting out with a 15-9 lead after the first quarter.
Elena Schneider’s nine points were a team-high for Carpinteira. Saito and Lugo both scored eight.
Warriors head coach Dan Mercer credited Morgan Wallace for holding Cate’s leading scorer, Grace Dickman, to seven points.
Carpinteria (5-5) plays Providence Hall in its next game.
