Hope Morrison’s 17 points and a strong defensive effort brought San Marcos’ girls basketball team a 51-41 victory over Santa Ynez in the Gold Coast Tournament opener for both teams.
“We got off to a hot start. We came out with some pressure and we were able to force some turnovers,” reported Royals head coach Devin Uyesaka.
Roxy Sandoval and Lexi Zamora added 13 points each for San Marcos (3-3).
Hannah Cantrell’s 17 points were a team-high for Santa Ynez.
Both teams return to action on Thursday.
