Dos Pueblos’ girls basketball team topped Bishop Diego on Friday in the semifinals of the Avalon Tournament on Catalina Island.
The Cardinals defeated Hesperia 64-33 earlier in the day before falling to the Chargers 46-43. Dos Pueblos will face Cajon in Saturday’s championship game while Bishop plays Exeter for third-place.
Bishop Diego held a 39-36 lead over Dos Pueblos in the fourth quarter but the Chargers knocked down two 3-pointers in the final two minutes that propelled them to victory.
Greer Shull led the Cardinals with 20 points against DP. Jordyn Lilly’s 18 points and five rebounds led the Cardinals in their first game. Madison Ballard-Rozok scored 14 points in the first game and added 13 more in the second.
Bishop Diego is 6-7 on the season.
