Bishop Diego’s girls basketball team came home to pick up its first win of the season in Wednesday’s 46-33 decision over Cabrillo in the first game of the Bird Cage Classic.
The Cardinals had three players in double-figure scoring, led by Greer Shull’s 15 points. Josie McCoy added 13 and Jordyn Lilly had 11. Charlie Fling was dominant on the defensive end, blocking shots left and right.
“She changed things for us defensively with her shot blocking,” said Cardinals head coach Jeff Burich.
Daisy Poindexter and Lilly were also strong on the glass.
“It was a sloppy win for us but we’ll take it,” Burich said.
Bishop Diego (1-5) continues tournament play on Thursday in a 5:30 p.m. game with Villanova.
