Bishop Diego closed out its own Bird Cage Classic on Saturday with a 55-36 victory over Hueneme.
Greer Shull and Josie McCoy led the Cardinals in scoring with 14 each. Madison Ballard-Rozok added 12 for Bishop Diego, which finished 2-2 in the tournament.
Sophomore Jordyn Lilly pulled down 14 rebounds and provided a boost of energy.
“She creates intensity I think for everyone else on the team,” said Bishop Diego head coach Jeff Burich. “I can’t say enough about her.”
Bishop Diego bounced back from a 5-point loss to Providence Hall the night before.
“It was good to finish with a victory, especially after last night, because that was a lot of energy and that was a really close game,” Shull said. “We were kind of bummed after that so it felt good to get a win today.”
The Cardinals (3-6) finished in third place in the eight-team tournament.
“There’s room for improvement but I think we definitely played a lot better in second two games than we did in the first two,” Shull said.
