Dos Pueblos’ Cox captures title, MVP honors at Pete Duca Invite

Dos Pueblos wrestler Cameron Cox receives the award for lower weight MVP at the Pete Duca Invitational at Nipomo High. Cox won the 120-pound weight class.

Cameron Cox won the 120-pound weight class and three of his Dos Pueblos wrestling teammates finished as runners-up, helping the Chargers take second in the team standings at the Pete Duca Invitational at Nipomo High on Saturday.

Cox recorded two pins, a technical fall and a decision to take top honors and earn the lower weight MVP award.

Finishing second for the Chargers were Esteban Flores at 113 pounds, Chad Lampe at 126 and Eden Martinez at 138. Wynter Triplett (106) and Jeffy Uyesaka (132) took third place.

Alex Garcia (170) and Andy Garcia (182) finished in fifth place, Josh Murphy (120) and Damien Pennington (285) each placed seventh and Ivan Govea (285) was eighth.

In the team competition, Paso Robles took first place with 203 points. Dos Pueblos was second with 163.5, followed by Atascadero (159) and Righetti (158).
