A bad second quarter cost Carpinteria’s boys basketball team in a 60-52 loss to Channel Islands at the Fillmore Tournament on Thursday.
“We couldn’t get it done in the second quarter. We scored only five points,” Carpinteria coach said Johnny Ward.
The Warriors played better in the second half and got as close as five points before they had to foul.
“We played a much better second half,” Ward said. “If we could play like that from the beginning, we had a great shot to beat them.”
Marcus Hutchinson scored 16 points and Xavier De Alba added 10 points to lead Carpinteria (1-2).
The Warriors play Santa Ynez on Friday.
