Santa Barbara High won third place at the Buena Tournament on Friday by topping Palmdale in a penalty kick shoot out following a scoreless draw in regulation.
The Dons fell into the third-place game after dropping their semifinal contest 2-1 to Pacifica earlier in the day.
Abraham Sierra scored Santa Barbara’s lone goal of the day, coming after the Dons had fallen behind 2-0 to Pacifica. It was the first time the Dons had been down 0-2 in a game so far this season. Matt Medina produced the assist.
Alberto Hernandez recorded the shutout in goal against Palmdale and made a save on the fourth shot of the shoot out to lift Santa Barbara.
It was the 12th shutout of the season for Santa Barbara (13-3-1).
Oxnard defeated Pacifica 4-2 in the championship game.
