San Marcos’ Alexis Charco scored twice in Friday’s 3-0 victory over Arroyo Grande.
Charco scored the Royals’ second and third goals – both coming in the second half – after senior Baback Navidaboodi gave San Marcos a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.
Tony Rosales assisted on Navidaboodi’s goal and Charco’s second. Bryan Godinez provided the assist on Charco’s first.
“Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Carter posted the shutout in goal as he continues to make a statement for the starting job while filling in for the injured varsity starter,” reported Royals assistant Jesus Landeros. “Kyle was moved up from JV and he has shown a lot of grit and the ability to be an excellent shot stopper.”
The Royals have two more matches before taking a winter break. San Marcos first plays Pacifica on Tuesday followed by Oxnard on Thursday.
