Bishop Diego overcame a three-goal deficit in the first half, battling back to earn a 3-3 tie at Orcutt Academy in a non-league boys soccer match on Friday.
Aidan Williams scored the tying goal in the 70th minute off an assist from Troy Skinner.
“It was a good result to bounce back from 3-0 in the first half,” Bishop coach Ivan Becerra said.
Luis Ortiz got the Cardinals on the board on a penalty kick in the 38th minute. The PK was awarded after Matt Hammonds was taken down in the box by the Orcutt goalkeeper.
Bishop struck again two minutes later, just before the halftime whistle. Ortiz scored his second goal off an assist by Vicente Acevedo.
Williams and Skinner combined 10 minutes before the final whistle.
Becerra said his team was missing six starters due to injuries.
“The boys responded really well. They’re getting the job done. Once we get everyone healthy we should be fairly good.”
The Cardinals go into their winter break with a 4-1-1 record.
