Five players scored in double figures, and Carpinteria’s defense held Providence Hall to four points in the second quarter en route to a 73-46 boys basketball win on Friday night.
Marcus Hutchinson and Kevyn Crocker each scored 13 points for the Warriors. Crocker scored nine of his points during a 23-4 second quarter.
“We had a shaky start being down at the end of the first quarter,” Carpinteria coach Johnny Ward said. “Then we stepped on the gas and locked down defensively.”
Jesus Zapata provided a big boost for the Warriors in the second quarter, scoring seven points. He also was the team’s leading rebounder with six boards.
Kyle Milhollin scored 12 points and Duncan Gordon and Paul Cortez added 10 points apiece. Cortez made his first start and hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the first quarter.
Nathan Dutcher scored 23 points and Matt Eaton tallied 14 points for Providence Hall.
