The boys basketball teams from Cate and Villanova met for the second time in five days on Wednesday, with the Wildcats securing another victory over the Rams 51-41.
The two teams just met on Saturday in the final of the Ojai Classic, where Villanova won 48-40.
Wednesday’s matchup was a close game until Villanova outscored Cate 19-8 in the final quarter.
“It was a disappointing loss, but the Rams will learn from these mistakes and work to be better prepared for their next game,” said Cate head coach Bryan Rodriguez.
Spencer Shapiro paced Cate with 11 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists, and a blocked shot. Senior forward Herschel Jordan added 8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal.
Villanova’s Austin Bailey led all scorers with 12 points.
Next up for the Rams (3-2) in Pasadena Poly on Friday.
