Kyle Millhollin’s three-point basket was Carpinteria’s only field goal of the fourth quarter on Saturday night.
The Warriors needed it, as the hosts of the Jim Bashore Tournament barely held on for a 49-47 victory over Orcutt Academy.
Carpinteria also made 6-of-9 free throws in the final quarter, including 3-of-4 by Marcus Hutchinson. For the game, the Warriors were led in scoring by Hutchinson’s 11. Millhollin, Ian Craddock, Duncan Gordon and Xavier DeAlba all had eight.
Orcutt Academy’s Jaylen Holford posted a game-high 17 points and Manny Mangayao added 16.
The tournament takes a day off on Sunday before resuming on Monday. The host Warriors play Santa Ynez at 5:30 p.m. after Orcutt and Cabrillo meet at 11:30 a.m.
