Carpinteria’s boys basketball team punched a ticket into Tuesday’s consolation championship with a 51-42 victory over Santa Ynez at the Warriors’ own Jim Bashore Tournament on Monday.
Carpinteria used a 1-2 punch of Marcus Hutchinson and Duncan Gordon to get the job done. Hutchinson ruled the third quarter, scoring 10 of his team-high 14 points in the quarter.
After the Pirates made a defensive adjustment on Hutchinson, Gordon carried the torch in the fourth quarter for the Warriors. Gordon scored 8 of his season-high 13 points in the final quarter.
The Warriors (4-4) have tournament wins over Santa Ynez and Orcutt Academy after dropping their opener to San Marcos.
