Cate School will be playing for the Ojai Classic championship on Saturday after defeating Providence Hall 51-44 in Friday night’s contest.
The Rams face Villanova for the title on the Wildcats’ floor.
Max Wankner’s 16 points and 12 rebounds were team-highs for Cate. Ryan Baird added 10 points, 7 rebounds, and a blocked shot. Austin Gallegos matched Wankner in the rebounding department with 12.
Nate Dutcher totaled 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Providence Hall.
Cate (3-0) used a strong second half to overcome the Lions. The Rams’ frontcourt trio of Wankner, Baird and Gallegos accounted for all of Cate’s scoring in the third period. Cate outscored the Lions by nine in the second half.
