San Marcos had four wrestlers go unbeaten on the day at the Battle of the Islands dual meet tournament at Channel Islands High Oxnard.
Freshmen David Morales (113 pounds) and Aloha Rodriguez (120) had an impressive day as varsity wrestlers, going a perfect 5-0, with all wins by fall.
“The youngsters really did well,” said coach Tony Becerra. “I was kind of afraid to take them to a varsity tournament, but that’s all we got.”
Also going unbeaten were Mark Carroll (106), and sophomore Honowaii Rodriguez, who also won all his matches by pin.
Charlie Giroux (138) and Christian Garcia (220) each recorded four pins and suffered one loss to finish in second place in their weight classes. Also finishing second with a 4-1 record was Tanner Nuno (126)
