Jackson Wopat made his presence known at both ends of the court, leading Dos Pueblos to a 70-41 victory over Simi Valley in a pool play game at the Simi Valley Basketball Tournament on Wednesday.
The 6-5 Wopat scored 12 points and combined with Zachary Shugart for five blocked shots. Shugart also scored 12 points.
Cruz Mertens was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, extending his consecutive streak to 20 in a row.
Coach Joe Zamora lauded the play of Jacob Rodriguez at point guard.
“He stepped in tonight at played very well at the point position, adding five assists and three steals,” said Zamora.
Dos Pueblos (1-1) returns to the tournament on Friday and plays Rio Mesa.
