Victor Saldana gave Carpinteria’s boys soccer team a fast start to its season on Tuesday, scoring the team’s first goal in the very first minute of play during the Warriors’ 3-0 victory over Buena.
Luis Cisneros assisted on the early goal, giving Carpinteria a quick lead that would stand at 1-0 through halftime.
Lalo Mejia and Omar Vasquez added goals in the second half.
“Much credit goes to our defense – goalkeeper included – that gave us the shutout win,” reported Carpinteria head coach Leonardo Quintero, who won his first game as Warriors head coach.
