Westmont Women’s Basketball had an easy go of it on Tuesday night as the seventh-ranked Warriors (5-0) cruised to an 84-46 victory over the Keelhaulers of Cal State Maritime (0-7).
“We had a great start to our game,” said Westmont head coach Kirsten Moore. “Our starters gave us a big lead and we never looked back. It was good to get the momentum going and get everyone out there contributing. We had a good effort on the boards again and a good team effort.”
The Warriors had four players in double-figures. Senior forward Tugce Canitez tallied 16 points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes of play. Senior guard Larissa Hensley added 14 points, three rebounds and three assists.
“Larissa is playing really well and with a lot of confidence,” said Moore. “She is shooting the ball really well and leading us from the point guard position. Lauren Sende, our freshman post player, did a lot of great things out there with 10 points and seven rebounds. Dori Lansbach made shots from the three point line, which was helpful.”
Lansbach tallied 12 points and five rebounds. Her three field goals from beyond the arc were among the 11 drained by the Warriors as a team.
The Warriors controlled the boards, pulling down 45 rebounds, including 20 on the offensive end, to the Keelhaulers’ 21. Westmont also tallied 13 steals including three by Lauren McGee.
Tomorrow, the Warriors will end their seven-day, four-game road trip with an afternoon game at Cal State East Bay (2-1).
