SBCC was seeded 12th for the Southern Cal Regional men’s soccer playoffs on Tuesday and will travel to No. 5 Chaffey on Saturday afternoon. The game will be played in Rancho Cucamonga and the time has not been announced.
The Vaqueros (10-6-4) finished third in the Western State Conference with an 8-4-4 mark. They ended the season on a 7-1-3 run. SBCC beat Chaffey 1-0 on Sept. 7 in Santa Barbara behind a first-half goal by Chijioke Aranotu.
Aranotu (8 goals, 5 assists) and Kian Chachi (9 goals, 3 assists) top the Vaquero scoring list with 21 points apiece. The Vaqueros have scored 35 goals and allowed 26.
Chaffey (16-2-2) won the Foothill Conference with a 7-0-1 mark. Larry Llamas leads the Panthers with 18 points (6 goals, 6 assists). Chaffey has scored 48 goals and given up 20.
Fourteen teams qualified for the regional. Top-seeded Golden West (16-1-3) and No. 2 Cerritos (13-5-3) have byes into the second round on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
