Karina Sandoval had two goals and an assist Saturday, leading No. 3 seed Cerritos to a 6-0 women’s soccer win over visiting SBCC in the first round of the Southern Cal Regional.
The Falcons (17-2-2) scored three goals in each half to end the Vaqueros’ three-game winning streak. It was only the second time Santa Barbara (11-4-4) has been shut out this year.
“We were outclassed by a stronger Cerritos team,” said coach John Sisterson. “They took their chances and we didn’t. I was pleased with the season and proud of the way we performed all year.“
Cerritos outshot the Vaqueros 16-8, including 11-7 in shots on goal.
