Erin Saito’s double-double boosted Carpinteria’s girls basketball team to a 49-21 victory over Orcutt Academy in the Warriors’ season opener on Monday.
The Warriors, who led 25-9 at halftime, also got contributions from Bethany Lugo (16 points, 5 steals), Morgan Wallace (10 points), Lesly Zapata (10 rebounds) and Amy Davis (8 rebounds).
Saito totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds.
“We were never really threatened in the game but it was just a good team win,” reported Carpinteria head coach Dan Mercer.
The Warriors move on to face Hueneme on Wednesday to begin the Fillmore Tournament.
