Keia Nobles scored a season-high 15 points Friday night and Mhiah Vickers had 14 as SBCC knocked off previously undefeated College of the Sequoias 68-62 in the quarterfinals of the Gilchrist Invitational women’s basketball tournament at Sequoias.
Michelle Herrera added 13 points and Brooke Amenta (10 points, 12 rebounds) had a double-double for the second straight night for the Vaqueros (7-1), who won their third straight. Sequoias fell to 6-1.
SBCC closed the first half on an 18-4 run and led 28-21 at intermission.
Amenta and sophomore Sara Crane fouled out with four minutes to play. Nobles and Herrera each hit a pair of free throws in the final 44 seconds to secure the win.
The Vaqueros will meet No. 6 Foothill in a semifinal on Saturday at 8 p.m. Foothill upset No. 2 Ventura on Friday.
