Laguna Blanca ran into a tough opponent in the opening match of the CIF State Tournament on Tuesday night and lost in three sets at Central Section champion Woodlake. The scores were 25-19, 25-21, 25-15.
“Our girls fought hard and left it all out on the court,” Laguna coach Jim Alzina said. “I’m really proud of them and it was a great team and a great season.”
The Owls (15-8) advanced to the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs, losing to eventual champion Rolling Hills Prep in five sets.
Clara Madsen and Grace Woolf paced Laguna Blanca’s attack on Tuesday with six kills apiece. Bella Taron and Courtney O’Donnell each had eight digs.
