Westmont’s Ashley Correa of Lynwood, Washington has been named both the NAIA and Golden State Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Last Tuesday, Correa recorded a hat trick against #21 The Master’s, leading the Warriors to a critical 4-0 GSAC win.
Correa followed up that performace with two goals and an assist in Westmont’s 6-0 win over San Diego Christian on Saturday. Correa leads the GSAC in scoring with 12 goals and in points (two points for a goal, one for an assist) with 32. The senior captain has produced a .468 shots-on-goal percentage this season.
Since transferring to Westmont from Pepperdine after her freshman year, Correa has produced 22 goals and 22 assists to accumulate 66 points.
Westmont (11-3-1), ranked nationally at number 12 in the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Poll that was released today, is currently in second place in the GSAC with a mark of 7-1. If the Warriors win on Tuesday at Hope International, Westmont will have an opportunity to play for a share of the Golden State Athletic Conference regular season championship on Saturday at Vanguard. Vanguard is currently in first place, one game ahead of the Warriors.
Westmont has already secured a bye in the first round of Golden State Athletic Conferece Tournament that begins next week. As a result, the Warriors will host a semifinal game at Thorrington Field on Friday, November 2 against an opponent to be determined.
