FULLERTON – Stacey Yam and Erica Cano lost in the final of the “B” Flight doubles on Sunday while April Scatliffe and Priscilla Garcia won the “A” Flight Consolation doubles as UC Santa Barbara wrapped-up play at the Cal State Fullerton Fall Intercollegiate Tournament.
On Saturday, Cano and Yam battled into the final with a tough 9-8 (7-5) win over a duo from Loyola Marymount, but Sunday they dropped an 8-2 decision to Marivick Mamiit and Sarah Stadfelt of UC Irvine, 8-2.
After losing in the “A” Flight doubles main draw, Scatliffe, a sophomore, and Garcia, a freshman fought through the consolation draw, winning four matches in two days. On Sunday, they beat Portland State’s Megan Govi and Mandy Mallen 8-3, and in the final they eased past Olya Tatarchenko and Alex Ivanova of Southern Utah, 8-2.
UCSB will resume its Fall schedule on Friday, Oct. 18 when its players travel to the ITA West Regional in San Diego.
