Jamie Sporcic tallied two first-half goals on Tuesday, guiding SBCC to a 4-2 WSC men’s soccer victory at Santa Monica.
The Vaqueros evened their records at 5-5-1 and 3-3-1 in conference. The four goals were a season high and they have seven in their last two games.
Ricky Lopez, a freshman from San Marcos High, opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a header on a set piece from Adam Colton. Chijioke Aranotu popped the ball over a defender to set up Sporcic’s first tally in the 37th minute.
The Corsairs (6-2-2, 2-2-2) cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 39th minute. Four minutes later, Sporcic won a battle for the ball and beat the keeper to the top right corner for a 3-1 halftime lead.
In the 56th minute, Kian Chachi scored on a rebound after his header was blocked. Santa Monica converted a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
The Vaqueros host Moorpark on Friday at 7 p.m.
