San Marcos’ girls tennis team took its second-to-last step towards a runner-up finish in the Channel League on Tuesday, topping Ventura for the second time this season 11-7.
The Royals are 5-1 in league and can make it 6-1 on Wednesday in a match against Buena.
On Tuesday, 18 players contributed to victory. Stephanie Manson-Hing and Leanne Sturman were down 2-5 in their first set and battled back to win in a tiebreaker 8-6. They went 2-0 on the day.
“Today provided some valuable varsity experience for some kids we are going to need to produce in the future,” noted Royals head coach Alex Sheldon.
