Laguna Blanca’s girls volleyball team shook off a challenge in the first set of Tuesday’s 26-24, 25-14, 25-17 Condor League victory to sweep Providence Hall.
The Owls’ trio of Hannah White, Bella Taron and Grace Woolf led the attack with a combined 26 kills. White and Taron posted a double-double with 17 and 11 digs.
Courtney O’Donnell’s 29 digs were a game-high.
“(Courtney) really stepped up tonight and showed her senior leadership,” said Owls head coach Jim Alzina.
The Lions were missing their starting setter for the match but came out fighting with junior Olivia Barroca taking on the role for the first time.
“She’s just a natural athlete and knows the game of volleyball,” said Providence Hall head coach Laura Trudelle, explaining her confidence in Barroca’s ability to fill in on the fly.
Barroca tallied 10 digs, four assists and two blocks in the match. Hannah Park led the team with four kills.
Park and Barroca had the Lions up 21-20 in that first game before the Owls came back to sweep the match.
Providence Hall (9-6, 1-4) faces Midland on Wednesday.
League-leading Laguna Blanca improves to 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the Channel League.
