Saralisa Ortega won medalist honors for the 12th time this season, and Santa Barbara High’s girls golf team moved into sole possession of second place in the Channel League standings with a 260-269 win over Buena on Monday at Montecito Country Club,
The Dons improved to 4-3 in league while Buena finished the regular season at 4-4. Santa Barbara (9-5 overall) plays San Marcos in its league finale on Thursday.
Ortega shot a 45 to lead the pack. Claudia Fanaro was one shot behind at 46 and Alissa Crane fired a 48.
On Wednesday, Ortega and Fanaro play in the final round of the Channel League individual championship at Soule Park. The are one shot out of fourth place, and the top four finishers advance to the CIF Individual Tournament.
