With two goals in each half, fourth-ranked Concordia recorded a 4-0 shutout of Westmont in men’s soccer on Wednesday afternoon in Irvine. With the loss, Westmont falls to 4-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles (11-1-1, 5-0 GSAC) outshot the Warriors 15-5, placing nine of their shots on goal. Just two of the Warriors’ shots were on target.
Concordia’s first goal came in the 22nd minute. Christian Ramirez passed the ball from the left side to Edgar Orozco who slotted the ball low and to the right.
Eleven minutes later, Neil Anaya scored an unassisted goal from 20 yards out, hitting the upper right side of the net.
David Garcia scored for the Eagles in the 62nd minute, assisted by Eddie Gutierrez who escaped Westmont defenders on the sideline before delivering a pass to Garcia in the center of the field. Garcia scored from two yards out.
In the final tick of the seventy-first minute, Christian Ramirez finished the scoring by connecting from 25 yards out, putting the ball in the upper left side.
Next up for the Warriors is a trip to Phoenix to take on the Firestorm of Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon.
