One night after scoring an emotional league win, the Bishop Diego girls volleyball team knocked off Mission Prep in four sets in a non-league match. The scores were 25-16, 25-20,19-25, 25-16.
Lauren Underwood paced the Cardinals attack with 10 kills and 17 digs. Talia Van Wingerden added five kills and Ellie Rouse had four. Erin Linehan served five aces and picked up 19 digs and freshman setter Amara Parris had 17 assists.
“Due to some injures we had to bring up one of our freshman setters,” assistant coach John Sener said. “Amara Parris came on the court with big eyes and hardly a breath in her lungs, but after the first few points and a few side changes she started to find the flow of the varsity game and made some real good decisions. Our upper-class players really took Amara under wing and help her get comfortable. As a coach that is very gratifying to witness.”
Bishop Diego improves to 4-8 on the season.
