Bekah Beveridge earned medalist honors, leading the Dos Pueblos girls golf team to a victory over Ventura that clinched the Channel League championship on Thursday.
The Chargers won the match 205-232 at Buenaventura Golf Course, giving them an unbeaten league record (8-0) and the outright title. They have won or shared the last 15 titles.
“Both the teams had to grind it out a bit as we had a lot of golf this week and playing 18 holes just the day before,” said DP co-coach Dan Choi. “Ventura is a good team so we knew we would have to score well to beat them and stay undefeated. We were hoping to post a score under 200 to give us momentum heading into the post season. We had a good balanced outing. I think, however, playing so much this week took its toll as we had some blowup holes in the middle of some really good rounds.”
Beveridge shot a 3-over 38 to lead the way.
“It was a nice way for Bekah to end a very good career at DP.”
Mika Hendrickson shot a 39 and Leah Dunn fired a 41 for the Chargers.
