The girls volleyball team from Santa Barbara High captured a huge Channel League victory in Tuesday’s 25-12, 25-19, 25-19 sweep of Ventura.
Both teams entered the match holding 2-2 records, with the Dons now alone in second place. Santa Barbara High returned the favor after being defeated by the Cougars earlier this season.
“It was a great bounce-back win,” noted Dons head coach John Gannon.
Gannon credited a number of role players for leading a balanced Santa Barbara attack.
Lexi Rottman’s highlight digs, Caroline Stoll’s solid passing, Tessa Dewell’s team-high six kills, and sophomore Caroline Anderson’s five kills helped the Dons win.
“We just came out and played with a purpose in that first set,” Gannon said.
The Dons have a bye on Thursday before taking on Buena and San Marcos next week.
