Top-seeded Megan Grant and Madison Hale of Santa Barbara High rolled into the semifinals of the Channel League girls tennis doubles tournament on Wednesday with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in their second-round match.
Santa Barbara teams won three second-round matches in straight sets, while a fourth team, Kaitlyn Rodnick and Maddie Cuttler, was involved in a three-set battle with Amber Rowley and Alexis Flores of San Marcos. The Dons won the first set 7-5 and the Royals rallied to take the second set 6-2. The third set couldn’t be completed because of darkness. It will be decided Thursday at Dos Pueblos before the semifinals.
Mattea Kilstofte and Summer Garrison will play in an all-Santa Barbara singles final at Knowlwood Tennis Club at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The doubles final will also be played there unless the San Marcos team advances, in which case it will be played at the DP courts.
Olivera Tadijin and Lexy Gulden of Santa Barbara knocked off San Marcos’ Jordan Lund-Renee Handley, 6-3, 6-2, and Dons Lisa Santry and Karina Thornton ousted KC Eggers-Helena Lee of Dos Pueblos, 6-2, 6-3, to reach the doubles semifinals.
Grant-Hale, who haven’t lost a set in league play in two years, beat Raphie Del Mese-Katelyn Greene of Dos Pueblos.
